In this January, RepRapper Tech launched the Copper PLA, which received a lot of attention. Even since then, our technical engineers have never stopped to look for more metals that can be blended into common 3D consumables ABS and PLA, while the mixed filament can still perform excellent printing.

Aluminum is such kind of ideal metal that can meet this demand. We all know that aluminum is applied in a wide range of industrial applications due to its light weight, durability, corrosion resistance and lower cost than other metals. These features are a great advantage when it comes to 3D printing.

RepRapper’s Aluminum PLA is about 30% aluminum powder mixed with pure PLA. This Alu-filled filament prints easily on most common 3D printers and creates great prints. The printing temperature is around 210°C (depending on printers) and a heated bed is recommended to gain better adhesion.

This new Aluminum PLA is now available for orders. The filament comes in two different spools: 250g package, a good choice for a trial order and 1kg package, for people who need more for their printing jobs.
